ABOUT THIS BUILDING
The building that Velum resides in was built in 1950 by Duquesne Brewing Company. The top floor, currently occupied by Ascend Climbing, was used for bottling. The main floor, occupied by Velum was packaging and distribution. One of the case elevators remains intact that the brewery would use to transport cases to the first floor. After the Duquesne Brewing Company shut its doors in 1972, this building was a beer distribution center and most recently a taxi cab repair company. Now, Velum occupies all 35,000 sq ft of the first floor of which 20,000 sq ft is production and the remaining 15,000 sq ft is used for customer experience.
