ABOUT THIS BUILDING
St. Adalbert Church was built in 1890 and served the Polish community of the South Side. Construction of the Romanesque structure began in 1889. The building is 130 feet long and 82 feet wide with two church spires, each 150 feet tall, and houses a choir loft above the entrance.
There are six tall stained glass windows each featuring a different saint. The right-side altar is dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary and the left-side altar is dedicated to St. Joseph. The murals are all hand painted.
The church was named for St. Adalbert, the Patron Saint of Poland. There is a statue of St. Adalbert on the left wall of the church. In 1992, St. Adalbert joined with six other Catholic churches in the South Side to become Prince of Peace Parish. It merged with St. Mary of the Mount and in 2021 became part of Mary, Queen of Peace Parish.
St. Adalbert is an active church that is part of a vibrant faith community. Learn more about the parish and join us for liturgy by visiting our website at www.maryqueenofpeacepgh.org.
