YOUR EXPERIENCE

Be enchanted with the beauty of the church’s Gothic architecture, stained-glass windows, and other artistic details. Because of plaster and painting work being completed in the choir loft and repairs being done to the organ, access to the choir loft may be unavailable.

ABOUT THIS BUILDING

Saint Peter Catholic Church’s construction began in 1872 and was completed in 1874. The church was designed by architect Andrew Peebles. From 1876-1889, Saint Peter’s served as the cathedral of the short-lived Diocese of Allegheny. The church underwent a historical renovation in the early 2010s which provided additional structural support and included the installation of air-conditioning and restoration of many of the liturgical appointments in the church.
