ABOUT THIS BUILDING

MuseumLab offers a unique setting, with a “beautiful ruin” style that merges 1890s architectural highlights with modern design features and amenities. The building opened in 1890 as the Carnegie Free Library of Allegheny. In creating MuseumLab, the architects renovated the building to reveal much of its original 1890 archways, columns, and mosaic floors, and designed a unique space that honors the past while welcoming the future.
