YOUR EXPERIENCE

When you enter Grist House, you'll walk past the shiny new Tap House to the building where it all began, the Brew House, for your self guided tour. See where the beer is brewed, where it ferments, and where it flows from taps directly into your glass. Knowledgeable staff will be on hand to answer any questions you may have. The former slaughterhouse is charming and colorful, the taproom walls are covered in hand-painted murals by talented staff and family. Plus, a curated flight of beer will be available for a special price ( age 21+).

ABOUT THIS BUILDING

Before 10 Sherman Street was known for housing Grist House Craft Brewery, it operated as a slaughterhouse, diesel engine repair shop, and electrical warehouse. Built in 1957 as a slaughterhouse it operated in this capacity until 1972, processing pork and beef from nearby "Pig" Island (now known as Washington Landing). One of the most prominent features from this era is the hook crane that still runs through the original taproom. After this a diesel automotive shop took up residence until the 1990s and then came Moletz Electric who operated in the building until Grist House purchased it in 2013. After a year of build out, Grist House opened its doors in 2014!
