Energy Center Pittsburgh Northshore
111 South Commons | 1 pm – 4 pm
YOUR EXPERIENCE
Meet us for an “exterior” look-and-learn experience on the large front porch with full-sized windows to view huge pieces of heavy, industrial equipment at work, serving the residents and businesses of the Northside. See industrial boilers and chillers and learn about district energy. Please note: visitors will not be able to enter the building itself, as the facility operates around the clock.
ABOUT THIS BUILDING
Energy Center Pittsburgh’s North Shore facility was built in 1965. It has been providing energy-efficient steam heating and chilled water for cooling to buildings in the Northside for more than 50 years through pipes beneath the street. Many of the prominent buildings in the Northside neighborhood are heated and cooled from this central energy plant.
