What could be more iconic than visiting an art studio and gallery inside a historic building? Take a tour of Ron Donoughe’s art studio for a truly unique experience. As Ron explains, something happens when an artist is confronted directly with the subject he or she captures. He thinks it has something to do with the spirit of a place, and that spirit can make its way into the artist and the work itself.

This tour offers a painting demonstration by Ron, himself, and also provides an opportunity for guests to see his 90 Pittsburgh Neighborhoods project plus 20 never-before-exhibited paintings from Fallingwater!

TOUR HOST BIO:

Ron Donoughe, a native of Loretto, PA and now living in the Lawrenceville section of Pittsburgh, has been painting the Western Pennsylvania landscape for nearly 30 years. His work features the many textures of the region. Ron is a full-time professional artist and has taught outdoor painting workshops throughout the United States and France. Ron is a Distinguished Alumni of Indiana University of Pennsylvania, with additional studies at the California College of the Arts in the SF Bay Area.

Ron was awarded “Best of Show” at Three Rivers Arts Festival in 2003, and his work was selected for Salon International and Masters of Contemporary Fine Art in 2004. Ron was also featured in a one-person exhibition at the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts in November 2006 with the release of his first book, Essence of Pittsburgh.

Ron’s work was also featured at the PA Governor’s residence in 2011, in an exhibition titled “Across the Alleghenies”. His collection of 90 Pittsburgh Neighborhoods has been acquired by the Heinz History Center as a permanent exhibition and can be found next to the Mr. Rogers exhibition on the 4th floor.
