Thad Mosley is originally from New Castle, PA, and moved to Pittsburgh in 1946. He is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, and earned his degrees in English and Journalism. He served in the US Navy, and spent most of his career working for the U.S. Postal Service. He also worked for the renowned Black American newspaper, the Pittsburgh Courier.

TOUR HOST BIO:

His art, woodcarving, is truly a rare form of sculpture now; more popular these days in sculpture are assemblage, lights, and computer-generated pieces. He is self-taught, and has been exhibiting since 1959. His work is held in several public collections, including the Art Institute of Chicago and the Whitney in New York. Thad had a solo exhibition at Karma in NY in 2020, and most recently an exhibition at the Baltimore Museum of Art in 2021.
