Bonnie Baxter, Founder & Executive Director
Bonnie Baxter founded DOORS OPEN Pittsburgh in 2016, inspired by a similar event while living in Chicago. Bonnie now serves as the Executive Director for DOORS OPEN Pittsburgh, Inc, a 501(c)(3).
Bonnie spent 25 years in the television advertising industry, as an Account Executive, Sr. Account Executive, and Local Sales Manager for an assortment of media companies such as Sinclair Broadcast Group, Hearst-Argyle Television, Inc., Comcast Spotlight, Viamedia, and The Nielsen Company.
Bonnie has also operated a residential real estate property management/rehab company for the past 20 years.
Bonnie holds a degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, in Communications, with a minor in Marketing.
Ellen DiBiase, Development Associate
Ellen DiBiase joined DOORS OPEN Pittsburgh in June 2021 as a Development Associate. Ellen has spent most of her career in the nonprofit sector and worked locally with Pittsburgh Action Against Rape and Animal Friends. Most recently, Ellen managed a $35 million capital campaign at The Harker School in San Jose, CA, later becoming their Director of Donor Relations.
Ellen is an active member of the Friendship Community Group, having served for two years as a board member. She continues to manage their social media and assist with community event planning, including the Friendship House Tour. She also serves as a Parent Ambassador at The Ellis School in Shadyside.
Ellen has undergraduate degrees in Psychology and Public & Urban Affairs from Virginia Tech and an MBA in Organizational Change from Chatham University. She is also a member of the Chatham Center for Women’s Entrepreneurship and CMU’s Osher Lifelong Learning Institute. In Spring 2021, Ellen was selected to participate in the Mayor’s Civic Leadership Academy.
Marilyn Scott, Community Engagement Coordinator
Marilyn Scott is a Pittsburgh native and self-described adventure-seeker. An outspoken advocate for marginalized children & families and champion of the arts, Marilyn has spent the bulk of her professional career working in Events and Marketing throughout the nonprofit sector.
She is also a yoga instructor who holds RYT 200 and RPYT certifications and is currently finishing a RCYT (Registered Children’s Yoga Teacher) certification with a trauma-informed focus. Additionally, she serves on the Board of Directors for her Alma Mater, Woodland Hills School District, where she chairs the Curriculum Committee.
When she’s not working, engaging in public service, or practicing yoga, she enjoys singing and performing on stage, traveling, running half marathons, hiking the National Parks, and exploring nature with her family. She currently lives in Edgewood with her husband, daughter, and 2 German Shepherd dogs.
