YOUR EXPERIENCE

See how this South Side family business has been turning 2,500 lbs of flour a week into 10,000+ iconic Pittsburgh pretzels! You'll see the original 1872 wall oven, view the "twisting" process, and sample a pretzel for yourself!

ABOUT THIS BUILDING

Stretching a full block from its East Carson storefront back to Carey Way, The Pretzel Shop building was once a hotel. The original pretzel business was run by the Baranowski family until 1981 when the Bowen family purchased it. Today, it is run by 2 brothers and 2 sisters, with multiple cousins and the family matriarch, Marlene, greeting customers and serving more than 2,000+ menu items every day!
