ABOUT THIS BUILDING
Now in its 51st season, the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre (PBT) has built a nationally-renowned legacy of excellence and innovation. The company’s eclectic style and irrepressible energy have been shaped by a series of distinguished leaders, including Susan Jaffe, who took over as artistic director in July 2021.
PBT moved into its current Liberty Avenue studios in 1984 and has been an artistic pillar of the Strip District ever since. In 2016, the Byham Center for Dance opened on-site, expanding the organization’s campus to include eight studios, an on-site costume production shop and administrative offices. PBT’s pre-professional academy and arts education team also operate out of the space, serving over 20,000 students and community members annually.
