ABOUT THIS BUILDING
This building, first known as the Pittsburgh/Allegheny “Branch House,” was built by the International Harvester Company in three phases beginning in 1902, with the western addition in 1912 and the addition of the fourth floor in 1913. IHC continued to operate out of the building until 1959; the building was then sold to the Harry Guckert Company family in 1962. The Guckerts operated a printing supply company in the building until last year, when they relocated up the street. Both the International Harvester Company and the Harry Guckert Company have “ghost signs” remaining on the building.
